Two people have critical injuries and two others have serious injuries.
Police are looking for a gunman who opened fire in the busy bar and nightclub district of Austin late on Saturday, injuring at least 13 people.
Police said they responded to multiple shots fired just before 1:30 am in bustling downtown Austin, where a large crowd began to disperse.
Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said that two patients are now in critical condition during a briefing early Saturday morning, according to KXAN-TV in Austin.
Six people were taken to a hospital by the Austin Police Department, and the Austin-Travis County EMS brought in four others for medial treatment, Chacon said.
'They were able to immediately begin life-saving measures for many of these patients, including applications of tourniquets; applications of chest seals'.
They added that the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident, although an investigation was still ongoing.
'It's not clear at this point what sparked this off, but out of an abundance of caution, we have notified the FBI's joint terrorism task force'.
Those who have the information, or who may have witnessed the shooting, or what happened before the shooting, will be asked to call the 911 or 512-472-TIPS police tipline. The ninth remained near the scene and was being treated there, according to the Austin Police Department.
Eleven of the wounded were taken to one local hospital and the other two were taken to other hospitals, the chief said.
The shooter was not immediately arrested. Two of the victims are in critical condition, and police say that the "suspect (s) remains at-large".
