Los Angeles police said three children under the age of 5 were discovered dead in the Reseda neighborhood Saturday morning.
However, various local media said the three children were stabbed to death and Carrillo is the mother of the victims.
Police are searching for Liliana Carrillo, 30, in relation to the stabbing deaths of three children younger than five years old in Los Angeles Saturday morning.
It couldn't immediately be determined if Carrillo had a lawyer.
The incident started today at about 9:30 a.m., when "West Valley Patrol Officers responded to the 8000 block of Reseda Blvd for a radio call involving a possible death at one of the apartments".
The authorities took 30-year-old Hispanic female Liliana Carrillo, who was named as the person of interest, into custody on Saturday afternoon. A police spokesman initially said they were under the age of 3.
"She is considered the sole suspect in this case", the Los Angeles Police Department said.
"We are receiving reports that she just committed a carjacking in the Bakersfield area and might be driving in a stolen Silver Toyota pickup license J258T0", the LAPD wrote on Twitter around 1:10 p.m. PT.
She abandoned her auto and carjacked another vehicle, Jovel said.Carrillo was detained in the Ponderosa area of Tulare County, about 160km north of Bakersfield, police said.
