Imola and Portimao are still being lined up for October dates, with a triple-header due to take place after Russia's standalone event on 27 September, which will be Formula 1's first venture outside of western Europe this year.
It is believed that, given the improbability of Formula 1 heading to America in 2020, a triple-header of events in Hockenheim, Imola and Portimao were mooted for October.
"So from an economic point of view, this makes us less attractive for Formula 1 than other race tracks where they are allowed fan events under certain conditions". It means the latter will be conducted over a condensed two-day schedule for the first time.
The championship still expects to hold between 15 and 18 events with the final rounds taking place in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, prolonging the campaign into mid-December. The sport is in discussions about holding races in Asia in November, with Vietnam still a possibility and Malaysia rumoured as another potential venue. However, in the same announcement F1 also confirmed races in the U.S.A., Mexico, Brazil and Canada would not go ahead.

In the same calendar update, F1 revealed that it will not be possible to race in Canada, USA, Mexico and Brazil this season "due to the fluid nature of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, local restrictions and the importance of keeping communities and our colleagues safe".
The Nurburgring has not hosted an F1 race in 2013, won by Sebastian Vettel, while Imola last appeared on the calendar in 2006 as the San Marino Grand Prix - in which Michael Schumacher prevailed over Fernando Alonso. Portimao has not hosted a grand prix before but was used for a pre-season test in 2009.
"This designation, therefore, leads to three Formula 1 grands prix to be held this year in Italy - an absolute record for our country and a unique case in the world that certifies the high quality of our nation's motorsport system".
When Silverstone was given the green light by the United Kingdom government to host its events - which will take place across the opening two weekends in August respectively - Hockenheim remained as an option for a race later this year.
