"We will continue to see further similar cases outside of China, but the indications are at this stage that onwards transmission will be limited, so there will likely not be too many cases for example across Europe, and on a much lesser scale than we are seeing in China".
The Trump administration previously offered help to Chinese authorities, Azar said, reiterating the proposal.
Thailand confirmed six more infections among visitors from China, taking its tally to 14, the highest outside China. France had a fourth confirmed case, an elderly Chinese tourist who was said to be in a serious condition.
There are five confirmed cases in the U.S., all people who traveled to the area in China where the outbreak originated.
Ontario health officials have also cleared more patients suspected of carrying the new strain of coronavirus, lowering the number of cases being investigated in the province from 19 to 11.
There were 5,327 confirmed cases in mainland China during the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome epidemic.
Xi said earlier on Tuesday that China was sure of defeating the "devil" coronavirus that has killed 106 people, spread across the world and rattled financial markets.
The WHO's independent panel met twice last week, but declined to declare a global emergency.
Three additional cases from the company in Munich were later reported, all connected to the first.
