In an official statement, the company said that the new plans will go live starting December 3 2019.
It approved giving Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and Reliance Jio the option to avail a two-year moratorium on payments they were supposed to make in yearly instalments for the spectrum bought in auctions.
Vodafone Idea said that local, STD and national roaming voice calls from Vodafone to Vodafone and Vodafone to Idea subscribers and vice-versa will be considered on-net, while rest calls would be off-net.
Apart from these, ₹699 recharge for a validity of 84 days added to the prepaid recharge schemes that provides 2 GB data and 100 SMS.
Though the company classifies a set of plans in "unlimited" category, these actually come with usage limit for data at a promised speed and 100 SMS per day limit. Other than data, you get 300 free SMS.
Similarly, the plans worth Rs 169 and Rs 199 for 28 days have been merged and a new pack of Rs 248 has been created which would offer the same benefits as the former two, with unlimited calling, 100 SMS per day and 1.5GB data per day. In both the Airtel and Vodafone-Idea's new prepaid plans, the highest increase has been registered for the annual plans, with FUP limit on data.
The tariff hikes impact voice calling in a big way as customers are now likely to get limited minutes (under fair usage policy or FUP) while calling customers of other networks.
The Rs 249 worth pack which offered unlimited calls, 100 SMS and 2GB data per day would cost Rs 298, said the statement. Other plans include Rs 197, Rs 297 and Rs 647.
