In late January, health officials in Washington's Clark County, which sits north of Portland, Ore., reported that 22 people had been infected with measles in the city of Vancouver, Wash., with most of the cases involving children under 10.
The Auckland Regional Public Health Service said the new case was an 18-year-old university student.
A spokeswoman for the university told Stuff about 600 people were being contacted by email.
The heat wave has brought in an increased number of measles cases across the state capital.
Staff and students were being warned to check their immunity and watch out for symptoms.
"Measles is incredibly infectious and continues to circulate in our community". Up to 30 per cent of those who get it will develop complications - usually children under five. Measles during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage, premature labour and low birth-weight in babies. Similarly, in 2017, the Government of India launches Pan-India Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign, under which children ages from 9 months to 15 years are vaccinated to reduce the incidence of these disease in children.
Cases of measles are now appearing in certain pockets of the country, particularly across the northwest.
It was believed the student contracted the disease overseas.
This case is not linked to the two recent cases notified on Tuesday 12 March, an infant and a young adult, or the case on 28 February.
ARPHS is checking the student's household and other contacts to assess immunity, discuss quarantine and monitor any symptoms, Rainger said.
Another case was seen in Palmerston Regional Hospital Emergency Department on 17 March and had been attending Palmerston Christian School in the days prior to diagnosis.
There is new ban on the Italian children according to which they have to prove that they are vaccinated if they want to be in school and if they aren't, they won't show up in school then.
With Canterbury residents last week racing to get the vaccine, another 27,000 doses arrived in the region last week. "For people born between 1966 and 1996, you may have only had one dose and should check your records to see if you have had two vaccines", Dr Krause said.
Health officials say three additional people in OR who have contracted measles did not get it from the Vancouver-area epidemic.
"Knowing how very contagious measles is, there are likely to be further people with symptoms of measles in Darwin now and for the next several weeks".
