Meanwhile, the 49-year-old Enos comes to Tuscaloosa with more than 20 years of collegiate experience, including 10 as a play caller, the last three coming as Arkansas' offensive coordinator running the sort of balanced pro-style system that Saban prefers. After the season, Kuligowski was promoted to assistant head coach after spending the 2016 season as defensive line coach. He was named First Team All-MAC in his final two seasons with the Rockets. Kuligowski earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Toledo in 1991.
Alabama announced the hirings and promotions of several new and current members of the coaching staff.
Burns won't be leaving the program, however, he's just transitioning to assistant athletics director for football for the Crimson Tide.
With the last hires, the long-awaited official announcements were made of Tosh Lupoi as defensive coordinator and Mike Locksley as offensive coordinator. Joe Pannunzio will take over as the Crimson Tide's running backs coach with Jeff Banks serving as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator.
Locksley and Lupoi will both have co-coordinators. Both served as co-coordinators as well the previous year.
"We are excited to be able to promote from within to fill our offensive and defensive coordinators positions", Saban said in the statement.
"Joe Pannunzio has done a great job in several different roles within our organization". He is an excellent coach who will do a fine job with our running backs.
Burns in his Alabama tenure coached two Heisman Trophy winners in Mark Ingram (2009) and Derrick Henry (2015).
"Burton has been a crucial part of our success over the past 11 years and has done an outstanding job with our running backs", Saban said.
With Burns' move off the field, Saban's assistant coaching staff will have undergone its single biggest offseason overhaul since he arrived in Tuscaloosa, with third-year offensive line coach Brent Key as the lone holdover in the same position he held last season.
All such employment contracts are subject to approval by The University of Alabama Board of Trustees.
