If Bethesda is working on a new Game of Thrones title, then this could be the one fans have been waiting for. Most famously, Telltale Games released a point-and-click adventure game based on the award-winning series and was received with critical acclaim.
Retailer Target has just updated their website with a new GAME from Bethesda, Game of Thrones. It's not the first time that products have appeared on store listings never to actually go on sale.
With the seventh season of Game of Thrones coming to an end this week after numerous leaks, new rumors have begun to swirl surrounding a game based on the epic fantasy franchise. The retail chain has become somewhat infamous for prematurely posting its product pages, with items like Middle-earth: Shadow of War and the gold-covered PlayStation 4 both being unintentionally revealed by Target before their respective announcements. If the rumors of Bethesda making an adaptation are true, it doesn't seem too far-fetched to assume that the game would be an open-world, fantasy RPG, a style of game they already have experience making from their various entries in the Elder Scrolls series. On the other hand, it is likely that Bethesda does not one game with an extensive advertising campaign.
There have been several Game of Thrones video games over the years, including two RPGs that came out in 2011 and 2012, a mobile strategy game, and Telltale's episodic series, but none have truly lived up to the series' vast potential. This could mean that Bethesda does not game, but something else.
