Jordanie: L'ancien prince héritier accusé de préparer un complot

Le prince Hamza, demi-frère du roi Abdallah II, et plusieurs personnes dont deux ayant occupé des postes à responsabilités en Jordanie sont accusées d'avoir porté atteinte à la sécurité du royaume, a affirmé dimanche 4 avril le vice-Premier ministre jordanien, Ayman Safadi.

Contrairement aux informations relayées par le journal américain, un responsable jordanien, cité par la télévision d'Etat Al Mamlaka, a rejeté les informations suggérant que le demi-frère du roi Abdallah, Hamza bin Hussein, faisait partie des personnes arrêtées. Selon l'agence de presse jordanienne, elle a été initiée par l'émir Hassen Ibn Zaïed et par l'ancien chef de cabinet du Roi, Bassem AwadhAllah.

Au total, au moins 16 suspects ont été interpellés, parmi lesquels deux personnalités, Bassem Awadallah (un ancien conseiller du roi) et Cherif Hassan ben Zaid, selon le vice-Premier ministre Safadi.

La reine Noor, veuve du défunt roi Hussein, mort en 1999, et mère du prince Hamza, a défendu son fils et dit "prier pour que la vérité et la justice l'emportent pour toutes les victimes innocentes de cette calomnie malfaisante".

Le ministre a fait état de communications entre des personnes du cercle d'Hamza et " des organes à l'étranger ".

Elles ont notamment permis de détecter qu'une agence de renseignement étrangère avait contacté l'épouse du prince Hamza pour mettre à disposition un avion permettant au couple de quitter la Jordanie, a-t-il précisé.


Le prince Hamza a annoncé, samedi, avoir été "assigné à résidence" dans son palais, à Amman.

Pour sa part, le prince Hamza a démenti dans une vidéo publiée samedi soir toute implication dans un complot, affirmant que les actions menées à son encontre constituaient une tentative de le faire taire sur la corruption dans le pays.

Le roi Abdallah a démis son demi-frère de sa qualité d'héritier du trône en 2004 afin de consolider son pouvoir. Selon cette même source, "il y a certainement de la rancœur de sa part, car il n'a jamais digéré d'avoir perdu son titre de prince héritier ", il y a plus de 15 ans.

Le prince Hamza n'est pas considéré comme une menace majeure pour la monarchie jordanienne et il a été marginalisé pendant des années.

Ces personnalités ont appelé ces dernières semaines à des manifestations contre la corruption et les autorités ont réprimé plusieurs rassemblements, arrêtant des dizaines de personnes.

" Cependant, le roi a décidé qu'une conversation devait avoir lieu avec le prince Hamza, afin de traiter la question dans le cadre de la famille hachémite, pour le dissuader de poursuivre ses activités qui (...) sont exploitées pour altérer la sécurité de la Jordanie et des Jordaniens et qui constituent une rupture avec les traditions et les valeurs de la famille hachémite", a ajouté le ministre.
