B.C. sees 427 new COVID-19 cases; 47 in Interior Health

There has now been a total of 211,113 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

Officials also announced another 55 COVID-related fatalities, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 15,312.

There are 4,150 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C. Wednesday, down by 39 from Tuesday.

These figures include the denotification of one death and 12 cases.

Locally, 50 new COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday in and around The Villages.

Of the cases notified yesterday, 301 cases were in Dublin, 77 in Galway, 37 in Waterford, 36 in Offaly, 32 in Kildare and the remaining 261 cases are spread across all other counties.

There are now 434 people with Covid-19 being treated in hospitals across Northern Ireland - 53 of them in intensive care and 45 on ventilators. There were forty-nine additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Of the 695,629 people who have received some COVID-19 vaccine in Minnesota, 246,431 have completed the two-dose series. Of those, 1,305,889 have received the first dose and 1,181,166 have received the second shot.

Dr. Ronan Glynn, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health said; "Although we have made great progress, the situation remains precarious".

"The increased transmissibility of this variant is apparent in the current profile of the disease in households, with one in three household contacts of a confirmed case testing positive for COVID-19". To date, there are at least 34 cases of the United Kingdom variant in MA.

He added: "This underlines the need for people to exercise caution in households and other settings".
