"It will be rated R".
There's been a big update about the status of Deadpool 3.
Reynolds took to social media with a couple of ideal responses on the back of the R-rating-under-Disney confirmation: "First order of business: Find the guy who killed Bambi's mom".
Feige also revealed that Emmy Award-winning sisters Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux - who have written for the animated comedy "Bob's Burgers" since 2012 - are also working on the script.
So yeah, with the R rating (US classification) and the MCU connection confirmed, plus word that the script is underway, it's exciting stuff.... just don't expect it to be hitting cinemas all that soon. While speaking with Collider, Feige said, "We're interested in the political paranoia aspect of Secret Invasion and really showcasing the stars with Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, two unbelievable actors that you want to have in any series, and we're very lucky to have them for that". Deadpool earned its fame though due to star/producer Ryan Reynolds' violent and profane R-rated antics as the Merc With the Mouth, all of which didn't align with Disney's family-friendly image, leading some fans to fear that either Deadpool was getting nerfed or he would be kept separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios has its hands full production-wise, as the team are in the midst of filming Thor 4 and Spider-Man 3, and this year will also begin filming Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2, and Captain Marvel 2. That's already a very busy dance card, which means it's probably a safe bet that Deadpool 3 won't start rolling cameras until late 2022, for a possible 2023 release.
As always, stay tuned.
