Fresh off of writing and directing The Trial of the Chicago 7, Aaron Sorkin is setting up his next feature-film at Amazon which will focus on Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
The film will be set during one production week of I Love Lucy which was a Monday table read through Friday audience filming schedule.
The film is set to be produced by Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, with Escape's Jenna Block and David Bloomfield, Stuart Besser, Lucie Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lauren Lohman all attached to the project as executive producers. Aaron Sorkin was originally only slated to pen the script for Being the Ricardos, but after having so much fun helming The Trial of the Chicago 7, he elected to direct this one as well.
According to Variety, Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in talks to portray the famous comedic couple. Deals still need to close for both actors, but even if and when they do, when production will start is still up in the air as the Covid-19 Pandemic continues to push productions throughout the country. Kidman recently starred alongside Meryl Streep and Andrew Rannels in Ryan Murphy's Netflix musical The Prom, and in Twitter's favorite affair drama, The Undoing, alongside Hugh Grant.
Nicole can now be seen on HBO Max in the limited series The Undoing, and has also recently wrapped another series adaptation from a book by Liane Moriarty after the acclaimed Big Little Lies, titled Nine Perfect Strangers. As for Javier Bardem, he was recently seen in The Roads Not Taken and will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve's Dune on October 1, 2021.
