'Amad Diallo Can Be Manchester United's New Cristiano Ronaldo'

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has compared the club's teenage forward Amad Diallo to former Red Devils winger Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that there are parallels between the transfers of both players.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has hyped up United's latest signing Amad Diallo and claims that he could become a "world-beater" just like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE podcast, the United legend highlighted the similarity between Diallo and former teammate Ronaldo.

"We've just bought a kid in from Atalanta and hopefully he does something", he said.

"If you see his clips and speak to some of the people at the club that were involved in buying him, potentially this kid could be an absolute world beater".

"That is the thought of Manchester United people that this kid is one they have unearthed".

Ferdinand added: 'I don't want to put the pressure of Ronaldo on him, but no-one knew about Ronaldo when we bought him other than the people in Portugal.

'This kid seems similar in that sense and if you see his clips and the way people talk about him, the world is his oyster if he applies himself right'. The 20-time Premier League champions finalised a £37million deal to bring Diallo to the club from Atalanta earlier this month, with the Ivorian winger penning a four-and-a-half year deal at Old Trafford.

Diallo arrives at United somewhat under the radar - although manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he has "special abilities" - but he has impressed many overservers in Serie A with his pace and trickery out wide.

'It's important we give him that time to settle in, if it's in the under-23s or if he looks ready to go into the first team, I don't know yet'.
