UFC: Rafael dos Anjos calls out Conor McGregor after beating Paul Felder

Conor McGregor accepted the challenge after he was called out by Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Vegas 14.

'If you look to the contenders, I think only me and Conor, we are the only real champions in that division.

"If Khabib has really retired it will leave the division wide open and I think me and Conor are the only real champions in the division".

A lot was made this past week about the guts of Paul Felder for stepping into Saturday's main event on just five days' notice, and rightfully so.

"Everybody else is all interim champions". It is the same name that many fighters across divisions utter when longing for a red panty night, but in the case of Rafael dos Anjos, it is someone who he was supposed to have already fought: Conor McGregor.


It didn't take McGregor too long to reply to the call out and the Notorious took to Twitter to say he'd be up for the fight, once he'd fought Dustin Poirier, which is expected to take early in 2021, although it's yet to be confirmed.

But as the old saying goes, it takes two to tango - and no one could've blamed Rafael dos Anjos had he made a decision to turn Felder down.

"I want to face whoever is on the line for that belt", dos Anjos, the UFC lightweight title in 2015 and 2016, said.

Dos Anjos came up against his own last minute replacement at the weekend.

Dos Anjos, perhaps unsurprisingly, won the fight to set up a pursuit to win his former title back.
