It is focusing on MI and Pennsylvania for now, but even if both those states flipped to the president he would need to overturn the vote in another state to vault ahead of Biden in the Electoral College. A spokesman says President Donald Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has been infected with the coronavirus.
Trump's lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani, said Thursday that the campaign plans on filing a lawsuit in Georgia challenging its election administration.
Shut off from government funds, Biden's team on Friday ramped up their fundraising for the transition.
The two Republican legislators - hailing from a state that Mr Biden is projected to win by 154,000 votes - said they had focused during the discussion on Covid-19 assistance, not Mr Trump's efforts to overturn the election results.
After a series of court defeats, the Trump team is resting its hopes on getting Republican-controlled legislatures in battleground states won by Biden to set aside the results and declare Trump the victor, according to people familiar with his plan.
CNN reports: "A person familiar with Friday's meeting said the session was cordial as the group explained to the President the process for certifying the election and assigning electors in their state".
'We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in MI and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan's electors, just as we have said throughout this election, ' Shirkey and Chatfield said in the statement.
Republican Representative Jim Banks, the incoming chairman of a large group of conservative House Republicans, indirectly acknowledged Biden is likely to prevail, telling reporters that he expects the Democratic president-elect "to be a lame duck from Day One" in office. "We saw this from the Democrats in 2018 and we see this from Republicans today", Mr. Raffensperger said.
A recount in Georgia illustrated this after state officials rejected Trump campaign's implicit effort to throw out votes from black majority Atlanta, a tactic they are also trying out in Detroit, Michigan.
There is a "right way and a wrong way" for Trump to contest what he sees as election irregularities, Susan Collins, the Maine Senator, said in a statement.
However, by this point in the transition cycle in 2016, Mr Obama had invited Mr Trump to the White House, and Mr Trump has yet to even concede victory to Mr Biden. I'm disappointed, our candidate didn't win Georgia's electoral votes.
"Working as an engineer throughout my life, I live by the motto that numbers don't lie", he said.
The hand count showed Biden won by more than 12,000 votes out of about 5 million cast, according to data released by Raffensperger's office Thursday.
