A celebration and vigil to observe Transgender Day of Remembrance is set for Friday on the Green.
Transgender Day of Remembrance is observed annually on November 20 and honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence. In 2020 it's been reported that 350 transgender people were killed globally with 37 lives lost in the U.S. to senseless acts of anti-transgender, hate & violence. Cathy Renna Communications Director, National LGBTQ Task Force stated, "Transgender Awareness Week ending with Transgender Day of Remembrance is a time to lift up the stories & issue of our trans & non-binary siblings, from the horrifying epidemic of violence against trans people to the important policy & legislative actions that must be taken to increase protections & resources".
Here in Perth, TransFolk of WA will be holding a candlelight vigil tonight, where the community, friends, family and allies are invited to join in the occasion.Читайте также: Kristen Stewart in Mask at Happiest Season Premiere!
