The tour by India has been complicated in recent days with a fresh coronavirus outbreak in South Australia, which is to host the first Test from December 17.
Kane Richardson has been replaced in Australia's squad by Andrew Tye.
"It was a hard decision for Kane [Richardson] to make but one which has the complete support of the selectors and the entire playing squad".
However, Kane Richardson, who also opted out of IPL 2020 since he became a father recently, chose to stay back with his wife and newborn baby.
"We will miss what he brings to the team but completely understand and support his decision", it added.
Tye, who was part of Australia squad which went to England for a limited-overs series earlier this year, has so far played seven ODIs and 26 T20Is, in which he has picked up 12 and 37 wickets respectively.
"CA continues to monitor the situation in South Australia but remains committed to hosting the first Vodafone Test against India at the Adelaide Oval", CA said in an official statement.
The lockdown got here as two new Covid positives had been linked to a cluster that emerged from an Adelaide quarantine lodge, taking the outbreak to 22 circumstances.
Cricket Australia also clarified that the players and staff from Western Australia, Tasmania, and Queensland who are part of the Australian ODI and T20I squads are travelling to Sydney today to commence their preparation for both series.
"CA has taken a proactive approach and mobilised a number of people across the country over the past 24 hours to shore up our men's domestic and global schedules", CA's interim chief executive Nick Hockley had said. CA will continue to monitor the situation in South Australia and the resulting border restrictions around the country. Phillipe is now in hotel quarantine in Sydney following his return from the Indian Premier League.
"We've obviously played all the grounds before, in all different orders. I don't think it would have any impact", he said. "It's pretty uncertain times".
