And the Iranian icon would warmly congratulate the Portuguese star if he surpasses his astonishing feat.

Ali Daei "sincerely hopes" that Cristiano Ronaldo will break his worldwide goalscoring record, with the Portuguese superstar just seven efforts short of the Iranian's mark of 109.

With Euro 2020 as well as World Cup 2022 qualifiers on the horizon, Ronaldo will expect to add another record to his considerable collection.

"In no way [would I be hurt], it would be a real honour for me if a player of his class could do it".

One of Ronaldo's best chances to move closer to the all-time global record was a first-time header that missed wide. I sincerely hope that Cristiano Ronaldo will reach my goal record for the national team.

'I would congratulate him directly, but first he has to get there.

"Ronaldo. will beat my record, I'm sure, but he still has seven goals to go. He's an absolute phenomenon".


Ronaldo's journey to the potential record started when he scored against Greece in the opening match of Euro 2004.

Croatia avoided relegation in Group 3 of UEFA's Nations League despite a 3-2 loss to defending champion Portugal on Tuesday.

With Ronaldo hitting the back of the net in a 7-0 mauling of Andorra, he now has 102 goals for Portugal to his name and that return has him sat second on a notable chart and chasing down another entry in the history books.

Cristiano Ronaldo had indeed made all his hotels in Portugal available to hospitals.

He has said: "Nobody will be thinking about Cristiano". "They will not be thinking about not scoring in order to give the chance to someone else".

'Even Cristiano wouldn't want that to happen. They [other players] will not be thinking about that'.
