Star Trek: Discovery ended Season 2 with a massive time jump forward that provides an extremely blank slate for Season 3 and beyond, especially compared to its original placement in the Star Trek timeline.
"Star Trek: Discovery Season Four: it's official", the group says.
Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, and David Ajala.
In the video above, the cast of Star Trek: Discovery announced that season 4 of the hit CBS All Access series is already greenlit, and production starts next month. But because the world is still facing a pandemic, it will be under different circumstances than usual.
"I am looking forward to the one thing I always look most forward to when we get to come back for another season of Star Trek: Discovery, and that is to be reunited with my family again, the Trek family, the Discovery family", Jones said, before noting that he's not sure how coronavirus precautions will be taken yet when shooting the new season. "I don't know how it's all gonna work, but I can't wait". The series was originally set about a decade before the original Star Trek series, but has flung itself into the distant future with the most recent season. Kurtzman also recently teased that the small-screen Star Trek universe is about to get a lot bigger. New shows are reportedly planned all the way through 2027. The success of Star Trek: Discovery ushered in a new era for Trek on television as well.
