Also, he is the leader of opposition in Maharashtra and Bihar Polls-in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Asked if Rajput's death will be an election issue in the Bihar polls, Raut said, "The Centre and state (Bihar) together politicised the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case to make it an election issue".
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief met Mr Thackeray, who is from the alliance partner Shiv Sena - the other is Congress - for 40 minutes at the Chief Minister's house, but what all they have discussed is not known, news agency PTI reported quoting unnamed sources.
Meanwhile, speaking to a leading portal political analyst Hemant Desai said that this meeting has sent a message to Sena allies that it still has a good relation with BJP.
The Sena formed the government in November previous year with the NCP and Congress as the new alliance partners.
Taking to Twitter, BJP Maharashtra spokesperson Keshav Upadhye had also stated that the meeting between two senior leaders was not political in nature. Devendra Fadnavis had expressed the view that this interview should be unedited. "Sanjay Raut ji wanted to take my interview for Shiv Sena's newspaper Saamana".
"I met Devendra Fadnavis yesterday to discuss certain issues. Even Uddhav Thackeray was aware of this", Mr Raut told reporters. "There is no political context behind the meeting", Darekar said. "When it falls on its own, we will see", said Fadnavis, who is the leader of opposition in the state Assembly. "We are not trying to break any party in the state to form government in Maharashtra". Mungantiwar said, "Any such decision of government formation has not been discussed in the state core committee, hence the possibility of joining hands with Shiv Sena to forma government in Maharashtra is out of question". He referred to Fadnavis forming a government by joining hands with NCP leader Ajit Pawar in November past year, where the BJP leader had to resign in three days as Ajit Pawar could not garner necessary number of MLAs.
