With the Red Devils having reached the semi-final stage of the Europa League last month, Solskjaer's men have been given an extended break, the majority of Premier League sides making their return to league action this weekend. Even they have not captured the English top-flight title since 2013, and despite their Europa League and League Cup victories three years back, they have not added any silverware to their trophy list.
"The most important thing is valuable minutes because this pre-season is such a unusual and different one for us". I don't feel I've had much time off.
United start their Premier League campaign next Saturday against Crystal Palace and Solskjaer was buoyed by the performances of Van de Beek, who signed from Ajax, and Henderson, fresh from his loan spell at Sheffield United.
"Obviously it's a friendly but I'm disappointed we didn't win", he told the club's official website.
The 27-year-old has denied the offences and has launched an appeal which nullifies the verdict and means he has no criminal record ahead of a full retrial.
"He hasn't been with us long, obviously he was another who was on global [duty], so he's done really well considering he's only trained with us for two days".
"We create opportunities but struggle at times to find the back of the net". It's all about minutes and he got that.
"He's handled it really well and, of course, I'll be here to support him. At the start of pre-season, there were only four of us training, with what's going on at the moment, the quarantines and the internationals, so it was very hard for us".
