A firestorm of controversy reignited after Shane Dawson released a new video titled, "Taking Accountability", in which he apologized for numerous disreputable actions including appearing in multiple videos in blackface, using racial stereotypes of Asian and Latinx people as jokes, and making jokes about pedophilia. During their feud, Tati would later accuse James of being a predator and a "danger to society". "By the time the drama around James Charles' promotion of SugarBearHair reached its peak, I was beyond gaslit". "Shane, I know that deep down you are trying to learn and grow". Tati claims that in December 2019, she shared "inappropriate" texts and DMs from James with Shane. Westbrook alleges that the duo told her more victims would come forward once she recorded the video exposing Charles, but that none came to light.
When Shane asked her if it was Black's song, Friday, she replied: "I mean, I'm sure it happened on Fridays but.", which prompts Dawson to look at the paper before he starts singing adjusted lyrics to Black's "Friday".
"I did not lie in that video".
"I am so sorry to those I have hurt", she wrote. "I did not publicly air any of the horrific accusations that were being made behind the scenes". Tati mentions that though she could "usually spot deceit and manipulation a mile away", her "guard was down" because she was slightly upset that James had done a sponsorship with SugarBearHair - so when the pair supposedly fed her lies about James, she believed them. She and James have apparently spoken and cleared the air. His two videos post-scandal addresses the low points and struggles he faced during that time. She apologies again to Charles and says that while he wanted to be part of the video, she decided it was something she needed to do alone. "Because I thought I was following mine but I was listening to the wrong people".
