China put almost half a million people into lockdown near the capital Beijing in order to contain a fresh coronavirus cluster on Sunday, as authorities warned the outbreak was still "severe and complicated". One such bus has four sampling windows, each of which can sample about a hundred people per hour.
In China, authorities have imposed a strict lockdown near Beijing, placing around 400,000 people under shutdown following a surge in Coronavirus cases.
Some of the strict measures that have been imposed to control the virus spread include that only one person will be allowed out to go buy necessities such as medicines and food and only once a day can the person go out.
The National Health Commission (NHC) said in a statement that five of the new COVID-19 cases were so-called imported infections involving travellers from overseas, compared with three such cases reported a day earlier. The market supplies much of the city's fresh produce.
Businesses in Anxin county had supplied freshwater fish to the Xinfadi market, state news agency Xinhua reported.
Reportedly, 12 cases have been found in Anxin county, including 11 linked to the Xinfadi market. Workers there are being made to quarantine for a month, city officials said Sunday.
At a press conference on Sunday, officials said 7.7 million samples have already been tested. Post this, mass testing has been carried out on workers in the market and on residents of the sealed residential complexes. The officials put several neighborhoods in Beijing under restrictions and limited the travel.
Before the recent spike, the Chinese capital had gone 57 days without a locally-transmitted case. In some cities, local governments have organised for students to get nucleic acid tests and any with respiratory symptoms will take the exams in a separate room.
The rest of China has seen only a small trickle of single-digit infections, most of which were imported cases, which means travellers returning from overseas.
City officials have urged people not to leave Beijing, closed schools again and locked down dozens of residential compounds in a bid to stamp out the virus.
