Over the weekend, Cohen - under a few different guises throughout the day - infiltrated an a rally, "March For Our Rights 3", held by alt-right group Washington Three Percenters on Saturday in Olympia, Washington. Baron Cohen reportedly crashed a rally for the far-right militia group known as the Washington Three Percenters, leading the rally in a racist singalong before he almost caused a riot and was chased out by the crowd. Then he began singing a catchy song whose lyrics included racist language and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories popular among far-right extremists.
According to a video of an event organizer, Baron Cohen had posed as a political-action committee leader and had provided funding, security, and a new performer to the event. "Hillary Clinton what we gonna do/Lock her up like we used to do/W H O what we gonna do/Chop them up like the Saudis do".
Wuhan flu is a reference to the coronavirus, which was first discovered at a wet market in Wuhan, China. "Inject them with the Wuhan flu or chop 'em up like the Saudis do".
After video footage spread on social media, Variety later confirmed that the singer was in fact Baron Cohen.
They posted their own video showing organisers admitting at the event that they got "catfished" by the stunt and called it "a hit job from extremists" created to divide America. Came on stage disguised as the lead singer of the last band, singing a bunch of racist, hateful, disgusting shit.
Baron Cohen was honored past year by the Anti-Defamation League because of his record of using humor to fight hate, including through his Showtime series "Who is America?" which satirizes American politics.
The councilman also added that the crowd actually turned on Cohen, and that security "whisked him away in a waiting ambulance". He said the actor paid for additional security, who then blocked attempts to pull him off the stage or cut power to his music.
