A California man claims he and more than two dozen members of his family were infected with the novel coronavirus, including his father, who ultimately succumbed to the killer virus. A handful of extended family members are also beating Covid-19.
Soon after, his 60-year-old father Vidal Garay also caught the illness - and his condition quickly worsened.
"I don't want my father's death to be in vain", he added. "I want people to understand that the coronavirus is a real threat", he concluded. If his story can save a life, it's worth telling his story.
When father and son contracted the virus, they made the decision to quarantine together at dwelling in South-Central Los Angeles to stay away from spreading it to other loved ones users.
"At first we laughed because we went through it together", the son said.
"He passed from a runny nose to a headache, full fire", said Garay. Her father had a rare form of anemia that was not linked to the virus, and he began to have trouble taking his medication.
"He even struggled to drink his medication. I couldn't eat. We didn't have an appetite", Garay said. "I would power myself to try and try to eat spoonfuls of soup and tried to drive my dad to consume it much too".
All through their joint quarantine to move time, they talked about dying and what they desired their funerals to glance like, Garay reported.
A few days in quarantine, the younger Garay called 911 after waking up inspired by the air. Before the paramedics took him to the hospital, Dad sat down and asked me if I was OK, he said. At some point suffering from the heat Garay told my father: "Dad, I don't think I can handle it". Those were his last words to the father.
Times later on, his father was taken to a clinic in Los Angeles County, where he took a turn for the worse and experienced to be place on a ventilator. However, he recovered, and his father died. The day he died, his mom frequented the hospital and observed him by way of a window, Garay reported.
Richard said no large gatherings were held and he believes the coronavirus was spread by "one or two family members who stopped by".
It is unclear that so many people are infected in the family, but Garay thinks he may be from a relative who visited in mid-May or from the mother's carer, According to CBSLA.
