The NFL is reportedly working on new face masks with N95 or surgical material.
The NFL is still planning to begin its season as scheduled in September, though all offseason programs are now being held virtually.
The NFL has teamed up with sports equipment company Oakley to test out modified face masks to prevent the transmission of the novel coronavirus among players and team personnel this coming season.
With the new face masks still in the prototype face, Mayer is still unsure what they'll exactly look like, but he did say it's realistic to think these new designs could cover a player's entire face mask. "And these guys, the bioengineers that we use and that the league uses (Oakley), as you may or may not know, does all the face visors for the league under contract".
"They've got some prototypes", Mayer said.
One of the biggest problems with wearing face masks to combat Coronavirus in everyday society is that the inconvenience is reportedly not balanced up by a huge level of protection offered.
"Some of them, once you first take a look at them, you suppose, "Gosh, no" since you're not used to seeing it; you are simply not used to seeing it".
"They've got some prototypes". You're just not used to seeing it. But they're analyzing every problem you can imagine, even when it gets foggy. But these guys are used to dealing with these things.
"For a player like that, getting the helmet off, putting a mask on right afterward, maintaining social distancing when not in the field as much as possible, using single-use hydration - whether water, Gatorade, whatever it might be - I mean, just every little detail", he said.
Among the restrictions, groups can have exclusively 50 per cent of their workers within the facility at a time and not more than 75 folks, gamers are prohibited from group amenities until they're present process therapy or rehabilitation, and no teaching staffs are allowed at group amenities throughout "Phase 1".
With the National Football League start staggered to September, it may be the sport that has the best chance of returning with less issues than those in Europe or the rest of the world.
