The reports of a parallel universe said that NASA's Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA), a giant balloon, was used "to haul delicate electronic antennas high" into the dry air, that has no radio noise to have distorted the findings. The aforementioned high-energy particles were originally thought to be falling, although scientists have now discovered that this is not the case at all. However, ANITA detects heavier particles, the tau neutrinos - these are the ones coming up out of the Earth.
During the balloon's third flight, the scientists made a decision to revisit the data from the previous flights.
And they discovered plenty of low-energy, subatomic neutrinos coming down to earth. The theory of parallel universes can always be studied in great lengths as scientists and NASA continue to find true evidence that proves this theory.
The simplest explanation is that at the moment of the Big Bang 13.8 billion years ago, two universes were formed - ours and one where time goes backwards.
"What we saw is something that looked essentially like an interminable ray, as found in the impression of the ice sheet, anyway it wasn't reflected. So now, if these events are real and not just due to oddities in the detector, then they could be pointing to physics beyond the Standard Model", said Alex Pizzuto, one of the leads on the paper published in The Astrophysical Journal. "A very odd thing", said Gorham.
"Not everyone was comfortable with the hypothesis", he told New Scientist.
The New Scientist article mentioning the discovery of a parallel universe became a hot topic.
However, that doesn't imply time running backwards or the existence of a parallel universe.
Gorham explained that the Big Bang, which happened almost 14 billion years ago, likely resulted in the formation of two universes - the one that the people of Earth live in and another where everything operates in reverse.
"This whole parallel universe thing was not invented by us but somehow we have gotten tagged with it", said Gorham. "In this mirror world, positive is negative, left is right and time runs backwards", according to the original report.
The subject of Parallel Universes has been treated in plenty of SF movies and TV shows, but only in the recent several years it has been taking seriously by the scientific community.
Other scientists working on similar projects to the ANITA team believe if their findings aren't the result from a series of major errors, that the implications could be "incredible".
