Lipkin said the symptoms were miserable and stressed that "if it can hit me, it can hit anybody". "That's the message I want to convey".
Lipkin said he wasn't entirely sure where he got it but that "doesn't matter".
Lipkin declined to specify how or from whom he might have acquired the disease.
During his Fox Business interview, Lipkin also weighed in on President Trump's desire to have the county "opened up" by Easter, warning, "We really don't know when we're going to get this under control".
Last week on MSNBC, Lipkin appeared on Rachel Maddow's show and said, "We are going to go through this pain irrespective of whether we're going to do it in one fell swoop or decide to slowly pull off this bandaid". "It's extraordinarily important that we harmonize whatever restrictions we have across the country because we have porous borders between states, between cities". Dr. Lipkin in a video shared by Lou Dobbs has stated that he has contracted the COVID 19 and urges that the best way to contain the deadly virus is only by self isolation, social distancing and hygiene at least for the next few months.

Lipkin teaches epidemiology, neurology, and pathology at Columbia University.
Lipkin also assisted the World Health Organization in China during the SARS outbreak in 2003.
