Young Marion and James melted hearts worldwide in March 2017 when Professor Kelly from Pusan National University in South Korea was talking live on air about upheavals in South Korean politics. The country has lifted some of its strictest guidelines, allowing kids to get some of their energy out by hiking, Kelly said.
"I think the South Koreans have done really well", said Kelly.
The whole thing was so damn amusing, and not to mention unexpectedly wholesome, that it became a huge viral hit overnight and made celebrities out of the Kelly family in South Korea.
His yoga teacher wife told the BBC: "It's very hard to stay in the house for a very long time so we go out for a very short time to the playground, try to stay far away from the people and a couple of times a week we hike the hills".
Jung-a spoke about family life in Busan and how she's been taking the kids to the playground, making sure they're away from other people, as well as trying to go and see the flowers and trees.
South Korea has emerged as a role model for dealing with the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. "I think the social compliance here has been pretty high". "That's one thing you can never apologise for now". You don't see the kind of things you've seen in the United States, with like people in a hurry beaches and people refusing to stay out of subways and stuff like that. The South Koreans have responded really well, which is why the curve has flattened out to just 100 a day. "It's part of the scene." the interviewer jokes. So it has actually been quite successful.
After his 2017 interview was shared across the internet, Kelly said that many parents reached out to him.
The experiences of Kelly and Kim reflect the millions of parents in the United States that are struggling to balance everything.
As the coronavirus crisis forced officials around the world to close schools and order isolation, lockdowns and quarantines, Kelly recently called for employers to cut their workers some slack.
Last week, Kelly tweeted a photo of himself at home with James sitting on his shoulders and draped over his head. "Be kind to your employees with kids".
