The Old School and Wedding Crashers actor sat next to the president and first lady and had what appeared to be a pleasant exchange, mostly with him. Vaughn then waves and shakes hands with another unidentified person.
Talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres experienced similar social media uproar when she was photographed socializing with former President George W. Bush at a Dallas Cowboys game in October.
As many pointed out already, Vaughn's political leanings have been no secret.
But others, including Dana Loesch, soon stepped up to criticize people who had a problem with it. Instead, they "met this evening at the game briefly". They share a long handshake before Vaughn says a protracted goodbye to everyone else seated in the box. "[Adults] should be allowed to decide what's in their interest, what makes sense for them, unless they commit fraud or physical force or take someone's property".
On Monday night, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump made a surprise appearance at the College Football Playoff National Championship between LSU and the Clemson Tigers, and the couple shared a lengthy conversation with Wedding Crashers star Vince Vaughn (a freaky sentence if there ever was one). In a cover story for the British edition of GQ, for example, he said mass shootings "happened in places that don't allow guns". One of the most outspoken voices on the right in Hollywood for years, Vaughn has been a vocal supporter of former U.S. representative Ron Paul and his son Rand Paul, a U.S. senator from Kentucky.
There has been no widespread call to boycott the actor's movies, with some pointing out that he's been a known Republican, supporting the conservative candidates in the last three elections, and even calls himself a libertarian.
In October, DeGeneres was caught on camera sitting next to former President George Bush at an National Football League game. Sign up here for Yahoo Entertainment & Lifestyle's newsletter.
