A major deal with Verizon certainly helped boost Disney+ downloads, but the service has also been helped by the strong response to the "Star Wars" series "The Mandalorian", as well as a massive library of classic shows and movies.
In Sensor Tower's Store Intelligence Data Digest for Q4 of 2019, the data shows that Disney+ is the top downloaded app in the U.S., with over 30 million downloads from iPhones, iPads, and Google Play from October 1 though December 31.
The revenue from TikTok grew 540% yearly, but most of that comes from China, where the app also offers in-app purchases of whatever people are selling or influencing.
The report pays special attention to Q4 2019, which is between October 1 and December 31, 2019. The app had more than 12 times as many USA downloads in November as HBO Now had for the launch of the final season of Game of Thrones in April 2019.
We're talking about WhatsApp, which managed to offset a fourth place showing on Apple's App Store with a convincing Google Play victory that was enough to give the instant messaging service the overall global win. In its second month of availability, the app earned more USA revenue than HBO Now's best month - which includes revenue spikes that were inspired by Game of Thrones. Disney+ generated $43.9 million during its second month, in addition to the $53.3 million it made during its first 30 days, analytics firm Sensor Tower revealed on Tuesday.
