Atkinson's death comes about a year after his brother Josh's death.
The Atkinson twins played football together at Notre Dame and were members of the 2011 recruiting class. Atkinson III rushed for almost 1,000 yards and had 10 rushing touchdowns during his three seasons with the Fighting Irish.
Atkinson III's twin brother, Josh died just over a year ago and George was dealing with depression since his brother's death.Читайте также: L1 : Rennes inflige à Claude Puel sa première défaite à l'ASSE !
"Filled with anger and guilt, I was on an emotional roller coaster and in a real dark place", Atkinson III wrote. Titled "How I Turned My Losses Into Lessons" and published by The Unsealed, the letter recounts the loss of their mother, who died from complications from Crohn's disease and also suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, and how the tragedy weighed heavily on Josh.
Atkinson left for the National Football League after his junior year, where he'd spend time with the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs.
The son and namesake of Oakland Raiders defensive back legend George Atkinson II, the Third never became the lead running back largely expected when he arrived at Notre Dame. Now, less than a year later, George is dead, too.
All the best to the Atkinson family and their friends in what has to have been an incredibly hard year.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
