Recently, T.I. sparked controversy and is under fire by most, after admitting to going with his daughter Deyjah Harris for her annual GYN appointments to make sure her hymen is intact.
During the show, which was released on Tuesday, T.I. was asked about his parenting style and whether he talked to his daughters about sex, according BuzzFeed News. During a podcast episode that has since been deleted, the rapper said that he accompanies his 18-year-old daughter to the gynecologist once a year to check if she's still a virgin.
After most of the all-female hosts agreed that T.I. was out of line for requiring Deyjah Harris to get her hymen checked to make sure she isn't having sex, Jeannie Mai, who is now dating rapper Jeezy, went on to defend his parenting tactic.
"I support what T.I.is doing because I understand how hard it must be to communicate with an opposite-gender daughter, especially in this time and especially with what he must have seen and known of what boys are like", Mai said. People reacted with shock and disgust at the undertones of the statement made on the Ladies Like Us podcast and pointed out how troubling and misguided the behaviour T.I. described is. After T.I. admitted he monitors his teenager daughter's hymen, Deyjah was nearly caught getting down while parting with Lil Wayne's little girl. "I didn't like rules; I rebelled a lot".
"Yes, I go with her ..." "You know what boys are like". Mai went on to say that her dad knew she was being promiscuous, but they never talked about it. She's still critiquing his comments but is understanding of why he's taking this stance. Why doesn't he trust her? T.I. has yet to respond to the backlash.
Abubakar, however, noted that while she hated the practice deemed by some as traumatic, humiliating and barbaric, there was nothing wrong with parents subjecting their daughters to it.
