In conceiving of the Crisis on Infinite Earths multiverse and multiseries crossover event, producers always prioritized bringing Welling back into the mix.
Interestingly, though, Guggenheim's statement specifically refers to "Clark Kent" rather than "Superman", which could be taken as a sign that Welling's Clark has given up the superhero lifestyle. Not much more info has been revealed, but audiences will get to see what Lois and Clark (no not that Lois and Clark) are up to 10 years after the events of Smallville. The fact that Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow all have a yearly crossover event makes it all that more tempting.
Are you excited about Durance's return as Lois Lane? She had a recurring role as Alura Zor-El on Supergirl. By the time of the finale, the pair were set to be married, worked at the Daily Planet and Clark was taking to the skies as Superman.
It is unclear exactly how Tom will figure in the action, but it will indeed shed light on where his version (or, universe) of Clark ends up eight years after the Smallville conclusion. We assume he'll be rocking the suit in this crossover, and if he does, that should be a particularly interesting challenge for Welling. Tyler Hoechlin has been playing Superman in the Arrowverse for a few years now.
Titled "Crisis on Infinite Earths", the upcoming mega-crossover will unite the entire Arrowverse series franchise - Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman - in a five-episode epic that will span two quarters, with three episodes airing in December and the two concluding installments debuting in January.
