PORTLAND, Ore. - The Trail Blazers and Nuggets are heading toward a Game 7 showdown after things got heated between the teams late in Thursday night's contest. Damian Lillard dropped in 32 points and, more impressively, Enes Kanter ripped down 14 rebounds even though he's fasting for Ramadan. The Nuggets have covered the spread in three straight and in four of five overall. The Nuggets' 26-point victory Tuesday was the largest winning margin of the series.
Nuggets SF Michael Porter Jr. and Blazers C Jusuf Nurkic remain the only players sidelined by injury.
The Nuggets were in this situation before: They lost on the road to San Antonio in Game 6 in the opening round, forcing that series to return to Denver for the deciding game.
Over/under: Four of the five games in the series topped Thursday's projected total of 215.5.
"He's capable of scoring 50 in Game 6 and we're well aware of that", Malone said, via Joe Vardon of The Athletic. The Blazers and Nuggets are set to face off in Game 7 in Denver on Sunday. Mike Dunleavy was the coach. (Nurkic was traded to the Blazers in 2017).
"I knew I had to come in with high spirits", Embiid said. I guess he thought I was trying to stand on top of him and be tough.
"I know for us - I didn't see their bench - but our bench never came close to coming on the floor", Malone said. "Sometimes you have to force yourself to get away from it".
SASSY: Curry used some colorful language after the game in describing the dustup in the fourth quarter, saying he was poked in the eye.
"He waited for a few people to get in between us, and when a few people were in between us, he put his finger in my eye", said Curry, who took exception to Barton's finger in his face. That was real sassy. The Trail Blazers didn't really take control until the final minutes of the quarter as they pushed the lead out to seven points, 87-80. "Front-runners. And we can't allow that".
