Washington D.C., May 9: American singer-songwriter Britney Spears has been granted a restraining order against her former manager Sam Lutfi. A report on TMZ shows a photo of Spears leaving the courtroom barefoot.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, the 37-year-old singer - who also sought protection for her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, and her sons Sean Preston, 13, and 12-year-old Jayden - claimed she and her loved ones had received harassing and threatening texts and tweets to them and argued his actions had caused her "severe mental trauma" while interfering with her life. Concern continues to grow for Britney, even after she completed treatment at a health facility in late April. The children were born extremely close together and Britney's ex-husband, Kevin Federline, has custody of the boys.
The recent filing alleges that "shortly after Ms. Spears checked herself into a mental health facility, Lutfi began a new campaign of harassment against Ms. Spears and her family". The judge will no doubt ask for an update on all aspects of her condition and work status. Jamie has been Britney's conservator since 2008 following his daughter's breakdown the year prior.
Rarely is it used for people as functional as Spears, who despite further problems-she has said in interviews that she struggles with bipolar disorder-has seen her career continue to thrive.
Earlier today, Courtney Love tweeted her support for Spears, writing, "Britney, you are so courageous!"
Fans of the superstar were pictured outside court protesting to "set her free".

Britney Spears appeared in court at her own request to speak to a judge who oversees the conservatorship that has controlled her affairs for 11 years.
There will be another status hearing in September, giving Britney plenty of time to have the evaluation done. Britney does not have to attend. "It's a hard situation for her and Lynne is in L.A.to help".
Penny says in her order that both Spears and her parents agreed to the evaluation.

Lutfi is also accused of sending the pop star's mother, Lynne Spears, "a long and unhinged text message that includes harmful, disparaging and ominous remarks in an effort to disrupt the conservatorship".
