It was a unusual episode on American Airlines flight 1346 Friday as a 25-year-old man touched the faces of other passengers and sprayed them with an unknown substance before jumping off the grounded plane in Phoenix, Arizona, police said in a press release.
Phoenix police spokesman Tommy Thompson says the man randomly touched passengers' faces and sprayed them with liquid from a spray bottle after the American Airlines flight from Minneapolis arrived Friday morning at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 6.12am.
While the man was waiting for the door to the jetway to open, he opened the service door on the opposite side of the plane and jumped out.
American Airlines experienced a mishap during a flight from NY bound for Los Angeles on Wednesday night, resulting in the aircraft having to return to the airport. She said he was swearing and acting aggressively toward other passengers. "Law enforcement and paramedics responded", the airline said in a statement.
The man has not been identified but is said to be a 25-year-old man. The fall was about 10 feet, police said, and the man sustained minor injuries.
Passenger Scott Laser told WABC that the plane veered left during the impact and then took a sharp right turn during the takeoff. According to the Arizona Republic, the passenger, whose name has not been released, became disruptive during the flight and led the flight crew to call for the police to meet the aircraft. Police took him into custody without incident.
