Wake the White Wolf!
As reported by Deadline, Ted Sarandos, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, revealed during an investor call "that the fantasy drama, which stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia and is now in production in Hungary, would launch in Q4".
The Witcher TV series and popular video games are based on a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, who is serving as creative consultant on the series.
The Netflix adaptation of The Witcher, which now appears to be featuring Henry Cavill in a bad Halloween costume, is apparently due out in the last few months of 2019. At the time, Variety reported season one will feature eight one-hour episodes which is prime bingeing material. Geralt is a talented monster hunter with powers and abilities beyond other Witchers.
Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) will portray the lead character, Geralt of Rivia. Jodhi May also stars in the series as Queen Calanthe, with Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as King Eist. The first season is now in production. Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, and Millie Brady have supporting roles. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is serving as executive producer and showrunner, whose previous credits include Marvel superhero dramas like The Defenders and Daredevil.
