Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, pictured here at the premiere of "Maleficent" in May 2014, are now legally single again after a court dissolved their marriage. A source close to Angelina Jolie told HollywoodLife exclusively that the name change is helping her come to terms with the end of her marriage.
Despite the "very hard feelings" that permeated their early negotiations, their relationship is now "the best it's been since their split". "He is enjoying himself, nothing serious", the source dished, adding that Pitt is a "free spirit when it comes to dating".
The split came just two years after officially tying the knot and 11 years after their relationship began, shortly following Pitt's divorce from Jennifer Aniston.
The couple were said to have gotten a lot of things sorted out about their divorce and co-parenting relationship moving forward, and Pitt allegedly wanted to meet face-to-face with his estranged wife because he's exhausted of talking through lawyers, who tend to drag things out.
Meanwhile, as far as Angelina and Bradd's summer plans with their kids are concerned, the couple might not go for a holiday this year with them as Brad Pitt will be attending the Cannes Film Festival for his film, "Once Upon a time in Hollywood".
As ET said, Jolie and Pitt requested a bifurcated judgment. But in the meantime, according to People, Angelina and Brad both requested a legal move, called bifurcation, which permits them to recuperate their unmarried status. Two days after being legally single Jolie has dropped her married name Angelina Jolie-Pitt yes she has cut "Pitt" from her name and is now officially Angelina Jolie.
CNN has reached out to reps for Jolie for comment.
The couple's six children-17-year-old Maddox, 15-year-old Pax, 14-year-old Zahara, 12-year-old Shiloh and 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne-are also listed in the paperwork but will continue to use their hyphenated Jolie-Pitt surnames.
