"That's really important. That we had someone of her calibre on the show".
Darcey Bussell announced she'd be stepping down as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing earlier this week.
"I for one will dearly miss my partner in crime and our girly chats".
In a now-deleted tweet, he added: "I will treasures all the time we spent together on and off screen".
Caroline maintained very close ties to Strictly when she hooked up with 24-year-old professional dancer AJ Pritchard after the National Television Awards in January.
"I know I will miss being part of this unique show and the fact that it celebrates dance is something I am so passionate about". "The same was said about Len [Goodman] and Bruno earning more than Darcey and I. That was because Len did that awful Partners in Rhyme show".
Speaking to Jamie Theakston and Lucy Horobin on Heart Breakfast, she said of Darcey's departure: It's sad.
He said: "She's done seven years and she loves it and she has a great time".
When asked who she thinks might take over Darcey's place, Katie revealed: "I think Oti would be brilliant because she's brilliant on The Greatest Dancer".
Last year, Dame Darcey was forced to deny rumours of a rivalry with Ballas.
Dame Darcey told The Telegraph: "Of course I get on with Shirley". She's hysterical, she's got a great sense of humour, and I totally respect her fantastic amount of knowledge.
Craig Revel Horwood has weighed in on Dame Darcey Bussell quitting Strictly Come Dancing - and given how well known he is for delivering brutally honest and often scathing critiques, it comes as no surprise that he's telling it like it is.
"Fueled by insider comments, some arrived at the unfounded conclusion that she had become exhausted of "'the Bruno show' and felt the dynamic between the judges changed after Craig's jibes at Shirley's cosmetic surgery".
"She will be thoroughly missed by us all and will of course remain part of the Strictly family in the future".
While he is unsure who might step into Darcey's shoes, Craig would be happy for "Strictly" professional Anton Du Beke or former pro Karen Hardy to take on the judging reins, but joked "X Factor" boss Simon Cowell might even like a go at the role.
