(Woeful except for scoring sensation Devin Booker who can pure light it up.) Playing against Draymond Green causes most players to have the same reaction as Kerr, who appeared to say to assistant coach Mike Brown: "I'm so (expletive) exhausted of Draymond".
When asked Monday if he had a conversation with Green about the clip, Kerr said it was private.
It certainly appears Kerr indeed said the phrase that was originally in question, but it also seems to have been in the heat of the moment.
"The lip readers were wrong", the Warriors coach said with a wry smile. "What I said was, 'I beg to differ with Draymond's approach tonight.' Those were my exact words". "Like, I know it's not the playoffs, but it is our last go-round at Oracle".
Here's Kerr in his own words.
Kerr has regularly praised Green's production on both ends of the court this season, though Golden State as a whole has struggled to play the kind of smothering defense that defined its run to a repeat title last season. We've got to build better habits. But instead of a boot-camp-style workout, the Warriors had what they call a "get-what-you-need" day, with players coming in and out of the facility as they pleased. We all feel it.
After the game, Golden State star Klay Thompson chided Warriors fans for being less than enthusiastic in showing their support to rally the team. The Warriors long ago got all the benefits of idolization, and now we're all in full shred-down mode. "George Orwell was right; he just had the year wrong". He wrote 1984. I think the title should have been like 2012 or so. Coaching guys at this level can't be easy, and coaches likely say much worse about players throughout the game - it just doesn't get caught on camera. We've got to stay connected emotionally.
Thompson hasn't spoken to the media since his comments on Sunday.
The National Basketball Association, despite the million dollar divas that make up the nightly soap opera, is more similar to life of the common than one realizes.
