There were a few concerns earlier that Roach would regain his old post as the lone voice in the corner but Pacquiao guaranteed him that Roach would take the sidelines so he can prove that his previous stint was not a fluke.
Jarrett Hurd - It will be a great fight but I want to go with my guy Broner because he has the skills to do it.
The Broner camp has been overly secretive but a report reveals that they are molding the challenger to perform like Juan Manuel Marquez. My main focus is Manny Pacquiao and I will be ready. A decade ago, Pacquiao may have been the most recognizable athlete of the time. "I want that one more time". If his weight's good - which it looks to be, it should be no problem - he might shake out maybe one more day in Vegas just to get the cobwebs out.
Watch Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrien Broner Live on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 9 PM ET/6PM PT on SHOWTIME PPV.
If, for some reason though, age suddenly creeps in that night, Broner might just pull a surprise.
Pacquiao, who was at the apex of his career then, brutally knocked out Hatton in the 2nd round in 2009 while sending Margarito into retirement with a dominant unanimous decision in 2010.
Clearly, Pacquiao's total experience as a professional boxer is far more superior than Broner.
Pacquiao is expected to use his boxing wisdom to erase the youth advantage of Broner.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, continued to his taper down his workouts. A Mayweather-Pacquiao sequel is likely to be the first thing fans and media will be asking, considering both had agreed to do warmup fights before talking rematch.
If the reports are true, Broner will patiently wait for Pacquiao to open up. A right straight or a right uppercut thrown after a shoulder roll- parry will be his best bet.
Broner is 0-1-1 in his last two fights, with a clear loss to Garcia in July 2017 followed by a draw with fellow former junior welterweight and welterweight titlist Jessie Vargas in April.
That would spark intense speculation about what - who - is next for Pacquiao.
"He's even stronger now", said Fernandez, comparing the 40-year-old Pacquiao's present form and movement to his condition when he fought Briton Ricky Hatton and Mexican-American Antonio Margarito. Whatever it is, it still is a fight. That should be the objective of every fighter, but that's not going to happen. Or will "The Problem" pull off an upset?
