Kotaku say Riot disputed some of the allegations made against the studio and certain employees, without being specific about what they disputed, but Gelb's name came up a whole lot and they clearly recognise his behaviour was wrong, especially given his status.
In the same email sent to Riot employees, Laurent called numerous allegations against Gelb "untrue". Though, some Riot employees have suggested the action taken isn't severe enough.
In response to his actions, Gelb is being put on unpaid leave for two months, and will undergo training. The news comes from Kotaku, who reportedly received notification that Gelb had been suspended "after multiple employees alleged that, as a comedy bit, he has repeatedly touched subordinates' balls or butt or farted in their faces".
Following the allegations that it fostered a work environment unwelcoming to women, Riot apologised and pledged to conduct an internal review and make necessary changes to its culture. Scott chose ownership and redemption.
The company is also facing a legal challenge from a class-action gender-discrimination lawsuit filed in November by two female Riot employees, one former and one current, alleging that the company's "bro culture" negatively affected their careers.
"The ball grabbing and things like that - that was absolutely well known across the board", one employee said.
He said: "We made a very rare exception in the case of our COO, Scott Gelb". "I think it's pretty telling that Riot's commitment to changing their culture only goes as far as firing people who aren't already insulated from the repercussions of that culture", said one, who is anonymous for fear of repercussions.
According to Kotaku's report on Gelb's suspension, many Riot employees were unhappy over the short duration of Gelb's suspension and the company's insistence that the accusations against him were untrue.
One employee, who asked to remain anonymous due to concerns about a company backlash, told Kotaku, "For Riot leadership, protecting their bad friends matters more than protecting their vulnerable employees".
