While India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) recommended more training, it said Jet Airways and SpiceJet, which operate 737 MAX jets in India, have not had problems with the aircraft. After Indonesian budget carrier Lion Air's Boeing 737 Max on October 29 soon after take off from Jakarta, killing all the 189 people on board, there have been concerns about lack of awareness of the functions of MCAS, a software on the B737 Max to prevent it from stalling.
China has become a key hunting ground for deals for foreign aviation firms thanks to surging travel demand, but the outlook has been complicated by Beijing's desire to grow its own champions in industry.
Cayman Airways has taken delivery of its new Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft from Air Lease Corporation at a ceremony in Seattle hosted by Boeing to mark the occasion. In the future, simulators will also be required, she said.
"ALC is pleased to announce this new Boeing 737 MAX 8 delivery with Cayman Airways today", said Steven Udvar-Hἁzy, executive chairman of Air Lease Corporation.
"Both the documents (advisories) address erroneous high "angle of attack" (AOA) sensor input and corrective action for the same as it has potential for repeated nose-down trim commands of horizontal stabiliser", a senior DGCA official said in November.
Boeing did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment.
"Detailed technical information to crew on MCAS and on reporting the defect".
Indonesia's transport safety committee, in its preliminary report, criticised the decision by a crew on the same jet the evening before the crash to continue to their destination rather than diverting the flight after the MCAS system activated. "In case of any snag or feared snag with the MCAS, pilots will revert to manual trimming (not depend on or use MCAS) and then land at nearest suitable airport".
The DGCA said that if an aircraft has had any MCAS-related issues, the airline would need to carry out a verification flight, meaning one without passengers, before undertaking any commercial flight.
Reuters on Monday reported Lion Air was reviewing Boeing airplane purchases and had not ruled out cancelling orders as relations worsen in a spat over responsibility for the crash, according to sources.
