"That's what we did when so many of us won an election this year", Ocasio-Cortez said.
The problem, as numerous critics were quick to point out, is that the supposed accounting fraud at the Pentagon consists of poorly documented internal transfers at the Defense Department and has no clear cost basis, even if true.
"Ocasio-Cortez is campaigning for what she terms a Green New Deal, which would involve 'transitioning the United States to a carbon-free, 100-percent renewable energy system, and a fully modernized electrical grid by 2035, '" Newsweek reported.

She said that her win, and the win of many other women - particularly progressive women of color, was completely unprecedented and shows that change is still possible.
That analogy was met with some mockery on social media - and Huckabee (above right) jumped on the bandwagon Sunday.
Following the press conference, Fox News host Sean Hannity tweeted out an article from his website headlined, "LUNAR LUNACY: Cortez Compares Her 2018 Election with the MOON LANDING, 'Establishing Civil Rights'".
He was referring to her "branches of Congress" gaffe during a conference call in November - which received wide condemnation. "She's much better at it".
And she defended her position, tweeting, "A Green New Deal will take a level of ambition + innovation on the scale of the moon landing".
Naturally, Huckabee, whose only current relevance is his spawn Sarah Huckabee Sanders, felt compelled to weigh in on Ocasio-Cortez's speech. "We've been done it before, and can do it again", Ocasio-Cortez replied. She then slammed Huckabee's daughter.
"Entire Conservative Cable News Channel + YouTube universe Have ALL gone after me, just to get lit up", she wrote. "Don't y'all have jobs to do?" she asked.
