Former Ukip leaders Nigel Farage and Paul Nuttall both publicly disassociated themselves from their former party in the past few days, expressing concerns at the far right anti-muslim direction it has taken under Gerard Batten, bringing in controversial figures such as Tommy Robinson and Count Dankula who taught a pug dog Nazi salutes.
Tommy Robinson inspired thousands of people to come out and protest this afternoon... but mainly against him.
The pro-Brexit march will move from Park Lane, all the way up to Victoria Street and onto Parliament Street.
Among those marching against the activist were grass roots group Momentum and Unite Against Fascism.
The march was met and outnumbered vastly by a rather more mixed and multicultural Stop Tommy Robinson march attended by around 15,000 in central London.
A Ukip spokesman said "quite a few thousand" had turned up to its rally. Who gets a subdued chorus of boos. Police did not provide estimates on crowd sizes. The association with Tommy Robinson will simply appal many moderate Brexit voters and inevitably be detrimental to the cause.
"Even with the Ukip machine in tow he only managed to bring a few thousand supporters out on the streets while we mobilised almost 15,000 to march against his racism and bigotry".
Robinson's supporters gathered to call for Brexit, with one brandishing a noose he said was for Prime Minister Theresa May.
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell urged Labour supporters to march against the "poison" of Mr Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.
'This march isn't about Brexit, it's about far-right extremists dressing up in suits and pretending to be respectable, ' Mr McDonnell said.
The opposition march started outside the BBC building in Portland Place and arrived at its conclusion dancing to Michael Jackson's hit Black Or White and Cha Cha Slide.
"We've lost a few members but we've put on far more over the last 24-48 hours than we've actually lost".
Scotland Yard said it had imposed conditions - which include the marches sticking to planned routes and limits the time they take place - based on current intelligence.
