It will offer more than 2,000 hours of live action each year as well as premium content on-demand.
The aforementioned deal includes worldwide multiplatform live rights in select territories to all European Tour events in addition to the next two Ryder Cups in select European markets.
Discovery has agreed a rights deal with the European Tour, expanding the portfolio of its GOLFTV OTT platform, which already includes multiplatform rights to the PGA Tour in most global markets. "Forging a deeper relationship with the European Tour to help develop and grow its digital assets is a flawless example of that, and it highlights our long-term aim to build a true ecosystem around golf, leveraging Discovery's global presence and expertise to achieve this at scale".
They include every Race To Dubai event, all Rolex Series events, every World Golf Championships (WGC) event, as well as Golf Sixes, the Hero Challenge, European Challenge Tour and Staysure Tour.
The agreement brings coverage of the European Tour and Ryder Cup to the streaming service from January 2019. That three-year deal with Movistar+ covers the full PGA Tour and the European Tour schedules from 2019 to 2021, as well as the 2020 Ryder Cup in Wisconsin, USA and the four annual World Golf Championships.
Discovery, the USA media giant and Eurosport owners, has announced its global multiyear swoop for rights to golf's European Tour.
Given those reports it is hardly surprising, especially given Alex Kaplan, president and general manager of Discovery Golf, saying back in June that the PGA Tour was just a starting point in terms of the media company's golf content.
GOLFTV's portfolio, which already includes the PGA TOUR, was boosted by a separate announcement in November 2018 which saw GOLFTV strike an exclusive global content partnership with 14-time major champion Tiger Woods. The European Tour will continue to provide content and editorial services for the digital platforms, and service its existing news and media clients.

European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley added: "Our partnership with Discovery, combined with our other broadcast deals, means that every fan in every territory will now be able to watch the European Tour". These markets, pending activation date of the full live rights, include Albania, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain (sublicense agreed with Movistar+), Turkey and Ukraine. Through the deal, Discovery will have the ability to sublicense television and digital coverage in the markets that it holds exclusive rights.
