In the Mexican Grand Prix, both Ferrari drivers finished ahead of both Mercedes drivers, as Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finished in second and third place to score 18 points and 15 points, respectively, while Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas finished in fourth and fifth to score 12 points and 10 points, respectively.
Much will depend on Hamilton's mindset and mood after clinching his fifth title.
Bottas confirmed he had no desire to win a race through team orders.
Hamilton wore a green and navy Kith hooded top and tracksuit bottoms, along with a denim jacket, topped with a Mercedes-brand cap, to keep on message with his F1 team.
"We have such a huge respect for each other.it's the greatest partnership in terms of respect and teamwork from drivers that has ever existed in Formula One probably".
"It's not something I've asked Valtteri, if he'd want that, but I don't think he's going to want that".
"It already feels like we are on race 25 this year, so I don't think that's a good thing personally", said Hamilton.
"But I am really hopeful we get in the vehicle this weekend and it feels more normal and we are more competitive", Hamilton added.
"This year definitely there have been times when he has been fundamental in us winning races". "We still have a job to do this weekend, which is to win the constructors' title so the focus remains exactly the same as it has done the previous races in my mind".
"One of the most hard moments of the year was in Russian Federation for me", he had said in Mexico City, referring to a race in which Bottas was asked to move aside to let him win. It's not always easy to find solutions.
"You all know what my goal will be for this weekend, so it's going to be up to me and I need to perform at my best level to fight for the win". I don't think he needs that anyway, I think he can do it himself.
"So it's up to us to find what went wrong and make sure it doesn't happen again. There are times where I've figured something out in my set-up and I'll tell him and there are times that I can talk to him".
"All I can do is speak is for myself".
"If you look at the last two races you will see that we kind of struggled, so I don't really have an idea of how it is going to be in the next couple of races", he said.
Even with these results, Ferrari only managed to outscore Mercedes by 11 points, so it will be extremely challenging for them to outscore them by at least 13 points in the Brazilian Grand Prix to take the constructor championship battle to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
