The Kardashian family shared a heartfelt message of support and appreciation for those affected by the California wildfires, and those fighting the infernos, during their acceptance speech at this year's People's Choice Awards on Sunday. Not only did the gang drink and be merry during their ride to the awards show, but Scheana Shay also impressively changed into her red jumpsuit in the bus on the way to the ceremony because she didn't want to wrinkle her outfit, according to a video captured by Ariana Madix in her Instagram Stories. Kim Kardashian began her speech by paying tribute to the victims of the mass shooting and wildfires.
Reality television star Kim Kardashian, who had to flee her home as the fast-moving Woolsey wildfire engulfed Malibu and nearby celebrity neighborhoods, said it had been a rough week for her family. "Our hearts are broken from the horrific shootings and those who have lost their lives and homes, as well as the hundreds of thousands of us that have been evacuated from the devastating fires that are now burning".
Kardashian said it was "amazing to see the resilient spirit" in California, and the "heroism" of those risking their lives. "We must continue to reach out and help each other during these trying times". This is such an honor, and we would like to dedicate this win to all of the firefighters, the law enforcement, and the first responders.
"We really, truly appreciate what you have done for all of us", she said. "So please let's continue to pray for everyone's safety".
170,000 people have been evacuated due to the wildfires until now. Ian David Long opened fire inside the bar packed with patrons celebrating "country college night" before he turned the gun on himself.
On the same days the blazes began, a gunman shot and killed 12 people, including a sheriff's sergeant, at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks.
