Fans of CW's Supergirl can now breathe a sigh of relief because it looks like they've found their ideal Lex Luthor! That's about to change.
That's right, for those of you who don't remember, though how could you forget, Jon Cryer played Lenny Luthor, the nephew of Lex Luthor, who happens to be a douchebag punk kid. Clancy Brown delivered an equally memorable turn as the voice of Lex on the DC Animated Universe shows Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League. "Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in "Superman IV" brings an added layer of legacy to his casting", they said in a statement.
Alan Cryer, best known for his role as Alan Harper in Two and a Half Men, has been tapped to portray Luthor in the fourth season of Supergirl. (Oh and yeah he played a Luthor in Superman IV in the Donnerverse.) Now, he'll get to step into the (sure to be expensive) shoes of one of comics' alll-time great villains.
Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller released a statement, saying that Cryer has always been their top choice to take on the role.
Though Lex hasn't appeared on Supergirl yet, his presence has loomed over the series since season 2, which introduced both his sister, Lena (Katie McGrath), who runs his company while he's serving multiple life sentences, and his villainous mother, Lillian (Brenda Strong), who is presently behind bars as well.
'I think we were lucky to have the opportunity to use him on this season and he just weaves into the story.
Cryer, who is represented by Forward Entertainment, UTA and attorney David Fox, will arrive in style on The CW in 2019.
